An advisory has been issued by the Government of India and this advisory is for every person who uses DigiLocker on his phone. The government has alerted people about fake DigiLocker apps available on the App Store. This information has been given by sharing a post on the official X account of Digital India (earlier Twitter). It is said in this post that before downloading the app, users should verify whether the app they are downloading is genuine or not?

It has been told in the advisory that these fake apps can mislead users and steal personal data. DigiLocker is a government initiative (under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, MeitY), which works as a digital document wallet for citizens.
Protect your important documents using only the authentic DigiLocker application. Fraudulent apps with similar names are being circulated on app stores to mislead users.

In this app, you can save digital copies of physical documents (PAN card, Aadhar card, driving license, academic records and vehicle registration certificate etc.). If all these important documents are downloaded in any fake app, then you can understand how big a risk it can be regarding privacy and security.

According to the post, users who have accidentally downloaded a fake app are advised to immediately delete the app from the phone and change the password of any linked account immediately.
