
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday visited DRDO’s Kanpur-based lab Defense Material and Stores Research and Development Establishment (DMSRDE). During this, the Defense Minister took detailed information about the ongoing work on new defense technologies and state-of-the-art material for the Indian Army. Also talked to the officials present there.
Director DMSRDE briefed the Defense Minister about the vision, mission, charter, ongoing projects and technology focus areas of the laboratory. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was shown many special products developed in the lab. These include Level-6 bulletproof jacket, special naphthyl fuel for BrahMos missile, high-pressure polymer membrane, silicon carbide fiber and CBRN protection suit for the Indian Coast Guard.
Big achievement in the direction of self-reliant India
It is being told that all these technologies are being seen as big achievements in the direction of self-reliant India. Materials, technologies and products developed by DMSRDE in ceramics and ceramic matrix composites, stealth and camouflage materials, nano materials, coatings, polymers and rubber, fuels and lubricants, technical textiles and personal protective systems were also showcased.

appreciation of scientists’ work
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh appreciated the work of scientists and said that the development of technology should be according to the needs of the forces. He also stressed that DRDO labs need to increase exports of their developed products and strengthen partnerships with MSME industries. Earlier, Shri Rajnath Singh visited the premises of former President Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Offered floral tribute to the statue of Abdul Kalam. He was welcomed by Dr. Sameer V. Kamat, Secretary, Department of Defense (Research and Development) and Chairman, DRDO.
