Nothing is going well in Maharashtra politics for the last several days. Now a new case has come to light. Action was taken against Manikrao Kokate, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister in Fadnavis government. Actually, Kokate was involved in controversies for a long time. CM Devendra Fadnavis has snatched away all his ministries.

Although Kokate is technically still a part of the cabinet, he is now reduced to a minister without a portfolio. CM Devendra Fadnavis has handed over all the ministries of Kokate to Deputy Ajit Pawar. Nashik Court has also sentenced Kokate to 2 years imprisonment in this case. Manikrao Kokate has challenged this decision of the court in the Bombay High Court. This step taken by CM Fadnavis is being considered as a big effort at damage control.

Health deteriorated after arrest warrant was issued

Manikrao Kokate has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by Nashik court in a 1995 fraud and forgery case. He is a senior NCP leader and was the Sports Minister. In the same case, the Nashik court, while upholding the order of February 20, had on Tuesday said that Kokate submitted fake documents and cheated the state government to get the flat reserved for the economically weaker section, whereas Kokate is a prosperous farmer. An arrest warrant has also been issued against him in this case on Wednesday. This has created pressure on Kokate to resign from the post of minister. After this he has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital.

Kokate reached the High Court against the sentence

Manikrao Kokate has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court against his sentence. The High Court will hear this matter on Friday. Kokate’s lawyer Aniket Nikam filed a petition before a single bench of Justice RN Laddha requesting immediate hearing. In this case, the bench listed the petition for hearing on Friday. At present, after facing embarrassment in this matter, the CM has snatched away Kokate’s portfolio and handed it over to Deputy CM Ajit Pawar.

Legislative can also go

In this matter, the sword is hanging on the legislature of Manikarao Kokate. On this, State Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar said that he has not yet received the certified copy of the court order. In this matter, NCP working president Praful Patel says that the party will take an appropriate decision on the court’s decision.
