November 28, 2025 by Uma Shankar

This time the cases of dengue have come down in Delhi and Gurugram as compared to last year. According to Gurugram Health Department, till October last year, 151 cases were reported, whereas this time only 64 cases have been reported. According to Delhi MCD, 1,136 cases of dengue have been reported so far this year, whereas 3,581 cases were registered by the same time last year. There has been a lot of rain this year, but why have the cases of dengue reduced compared to last year? Let us know about this from experts.

Dr. Subhash Giri in the Department of Medicine at RML Hospital, Delhi. It is said that if we talk about Delhi, at present there have been less cases as compared to last year. Although the year is still left, it is a matter of relief that the cases have come down till now. According to Dr. Giri, there could be many reasons for the decrease in dengue cases. Firstly, it could be that this time the awareness regarding dengue and the work of fogging has improved.

A Delhi MCD official said that this time a large-scale anti-larva campaign was run. Due to the focused drive in parks and JJ colonies, mosquito breeding was found to be very less. This time, more cleanliness was seen in the roofs, balconies and water areas of people’s houses. This also reduced the breeding of mosquitoes.

Is change in weather also the reason?

Dr. Subhash Giri says that this time the weather of Delhi and surrounding cities was a little different. Compared to last year, the heat has been less. Due to this, the breeding cycle of mosquitoes could not become fully active. This time there was more rain but less water accumulation. This also reduced the breeding of mosquitoes.

Dr. Giri says that at present the cases are less, but it is not necessary that the cases will be less in future also, in such a situation one should not be careless and take care of one’s health. If any symptoms of dengue are visible then consult a doctor. Especially children. Take special care of those with weak immunity and the elderly.

What are the symptoms of dengue?

high fever

muscle pain

vomiting and diarrhea

bleeding gums
