The Delhi government has taken many important and effective steps towards labor reforms, giving top priority to the interests of workers and small traders. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that the government has a clear resolve to provide respectable working conditions, social security and better employment opportunities to the workers in the capital.
According to the Chief Minister, to increase the participation of women in the employment sector of the capital, they have been allowed to work in night shifts, and it has also been made mandatory for employers to provide safety, transportation and other necessary facilities to women at the workplace. CM said that these reforms will not only increase employment opportunities but will also strengthen women’s participation and self-reliance.
‘Delhi government with the workers’
CM said on Sunday that Delhi government is with the workers. He said that workers are the backbone of our economy and protecting their interests is not only the responsibility of the government but also a moral obligation. He said that we are taking such decisions which will provide relief to the workers, increase employment and small traders also get the opportunity to work easily.
Permission to keep shops open 24×7
He said that the Delhi government has implemented some important decisions with the aim of providing relief to the workers and working class. Under this, permission has been given to keep shops and establishments open 24×7 in the capital, which includes all other establishments except liquor shops. He said that this decision will not only boost business activities but will also create new employment opportunities and increase participation of women. Along with this, the registration and renewal processes have been simplified, giving great relief to small traders, which will free them from unnecessary paper complications.
Labor code provisions implemented effectively
The Chief Minister also said that the provisions of the Labor Code have been effectively implemented by simplifying the labor laws, which focus on ease of doing business as well as social security of workers. Along with this, women have been allowed to work in night shift, under which they will be able to work from 9 pm to 7 am in summer and from 8 pm to 8 am during winter. In this system, restrictions on shops and institutions have been removed, however, giving top priority to the safety of women, it has been made mandatory for employers to provide security, transportation and other necessary facilities.
Decision in favor of workers
CM said that these decisions are inspired by the efforts made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the empowerment of workers and working class across the country. He said that the PM has always underlined the respect of workers, social security and the role of workers in the foundation of self-reliant India. He said that the Delhi government is continuously taking decisions in the interest of the workers by taking inspiration from the same thoughts.
According to the Chief Minister, our government believes that along with ease of doing business, it is also necessary to ensure ease of living, so that the workers truly feel like Delhiites. He said that labour-friendly policies will not only give impetus to industrial and business activities but will also strengthen inclusive and balanced development in the capital. The CM reiterated that the Delhi government will continue to take every possible step in the future also for the welfare of workers, social security and employment generation, so that Delhi becomes a capital where the benefits of development reach every section of the society.
