Voting is going to take place today for 12 Municipal Corporation seats in the country’s capital Delhi. The Election Commission had already announced the dates of MCD by-elections to fill the vacant posts of 12 municipal councilors. The date of issue of notification and start of nomination was kept as 3rd November and the date of voting was kept as 30th November. Voting took place on Sunday for the by-elections in 12 wards, in which 51 candidates are in the fray. The results will be declared on 3 December.
This is the first test for BJP after its bumper victory in the assembly elections. However, it is being said that Rekha Gupta and her team have worked very hard in this election. This is the reason why the party also expects good results. The main contest in MCD elections is between BJP and Aam Aadmi Party.
These results will tell whether BJP has been able to strengthen its hold on the corporation or not. BJP had ruled MCD for three consecutive terms, but in 2022 AAP ousted it from power.

Voting will start at 7:30 am
By-elections are being held today on 12 seats of Delhi Municipal Corporation. Voting will start at 7.30 am. Complete preparations have been made by the Delhi State Election Commission for this by-election. Today 6.98 lakh voters will be able to exercise their franchise. The fate of 51 candidates will be decided by today’s voting, the results of this voting held today will be revealed on December 3. Only in this will we know whether BJP passes its first test or not. The by-election will be held on Sunday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
CM Rekha will also vote
Election Commissioner Vijay Dev has appealed to the voters to participate in voting and celebrate the festival of democracy. CM Rekha Gupta will also vote in this MCD election. In Shalimar Bagh, the ward from which she was the councilor, elections are being held on the seat vacated by her becoming the CM.
