
After two days of uproar over SIR in the winter session of Parliament, the time and date has been fixed for discussion on Vande Mataram and election reforms in the BAC meeting today. Now from tomorrow the work in Parliament will be able to proceed smoothly. There was a huge uproar over SIR in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha in the last two days. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the government is ready to hold debate on electoral reforms and other matters, but the opposition is repeatedly pressing for fixing the time.
According to sources, the government had given consent in principle for the debate and now the BAC has decided the time and duration of the discussion. It was decided in the BAC meeting that the discussion on Vande Mataram will start on Monday i.e. 8th December at 12 am and 10 hours time has been given for it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be present in this discussion.
After this, discussion on election reforms will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, in which a total time of 10 hours has been fixed. After two days of uproar, the way has been cleared for discussion despite the SIR controversy in Parliament, the government is saying that there is no objection in holding the debate, while the opposition was insisting on the time and date. Now the eyes are on the debate in Parliament and the smooth functioning of the House.
There should not be unnecessary deadlock- Rijiju
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that today a meeting of all party leaders has been held and it has been agreed that on December 8, we will hold a special discussion on the completion of 150 years of Vande Mataram in the Lok Sabha and on December 9, there will be a discussion on election reforms in the Lok Sabha, a time of 10 hours has been fixed. There should not be a meaningless standoff. We have said from day one that the government is ready to discuss any topic. I hope that everyone will participate well in the winter session.
150 years of Vande Mataram completed
The celebration of 150 years of the composition of India’s national song Vande Mataram is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. This song has not only been a source of inspiration for the freedom struggle, but it is also a symbol of dedication and patriotism towards Mother India. Vande Mataram was composed by the famous Bengali writer Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay on 7 November 1875. This song united the revolutionaries in the freedom movement.
It was declared the national song of India on 24 January 1950. This festival will continue till 7 November 2026. On 7 November 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a commemorative postage stamp and coin at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. Along with this, he also launched a special website. PM Modi said that Vande Mataram is not only a song of independence, but it also reflects the dream of independent India.
