Dandakrama Parayanam: 19 year old Devavrat Mahesh Rekhe, born in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, recently successfully completed the Dand Krama Parayanam of about 2000 mantras of Shukla Yajurveda Madhyandin branch in Kashi. He completed this Parayan for 50 consecutive days without any interruption. It is considered to be the highest method of Vedic recitation. Became Vedamurthy at the age of just 19

What is Dand Krama Parayan?
Danda Karma Parayanam is a very difficult Vedic examination, in which approximately 2000 mantras of Madhyandin branch of Shukla Yajurveda have to be recited by heart in a specific style, both straight and reverse. This is considered the highest method of Vedic recitation. This examination is different from memorizing all the mantras one by one, because in this the mantras are read simultaneously backwards and forwards.
In Danda Karma Parayanam, instead of memorizing 2000 mantras and reciting them straight in the normal order, they are recited together in a specific style, backwards and forwards. It is considered to be the highest and most difficult test of Vedic recitation.
Who is Vedamurthy?
Vedamurthy are those who have knowledge of Vedas. This title is given to those scholars and ascetics who have studied the Vedas and religious scriptures for a long time or have memorized them.
