
The accused in the codeine cough syrup case have received a big blow from the Allahabad High Court. The High Court has rejected the petition filed by Shubham Jaiswal and other accused. The petition demanded a stay on the arrest and action, but the court refused to accept it.
The High Court has clearly refused to give any kind of relief to the accused. The court has adopted this strict stance considering the seriousness of the crime. It is being told that Shubham Jaiswal is the mastermind of the codeine syrup scandal, a big network has been exposed in the investigation of the case.
FIR has been registered against the accused in many districts including Varanasi.
In this case, FIR has been registered against the accused in Varanasi, Sonbhadra, Ghaziabad, Jaunpur, Basti and Kanpur city. At present, the accused have not got any relief from Allahabad High Court and investigation and legal action will continue.
The main accused of this racket is considered to be Shubham Jaiswal, who has absconded from India and is sitting in Dubai. Recently, a video of him had also surfaced, in which he has declared himself innocent. On the other hand, the police has so far arrested Amit Singh Tata, Alok Singh in this case. Apart from this, the police are continuously conducting raids in this case and have also recovered codeine syrup from many cities.
UP government has constituted SIT for investigation
After the matter came to light and took a political turn, the Yogi government of UP has also constituted a SIT to investigate it. Along with this, the entry of Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also been made. This is because there is talk of this racket being connected to foreign countries also. In such a situation, ED is investigating money laundering in this case so that the truth about money transactions can come out.
CM Yogi’s statement created political stir
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also responded in the Assembly regarding the codeine cough syrup issue. In the reply given on Thursday, the CM has said that we had taken action after complaints of cough syrup being used for intoxication at various places. There were also complaints of its smuggling on which action has been initiated.
He further said that in the action taken by UP STF, Government and FSDA, cough syrup was also seized and many arrests were also made. Initial investigation has revealed that some of the accused also have links with the Samajwadi Party. CM further said that on the allegation of Samajwadi Party chief, I will say, ‘I kept making this same mistake again and again, there was dust on my face and I kept cleaning the mirror’.
