
Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Friday attacked Samajwadi Party over the codeine cough syrup issue. CM Yogi said that initial investigation shows that the accused arrested by STF and Uttar Pradesh Police in this case have links with Samajwadi Party. He alleged that as the investigation progresses, more involvement of the Samajwadi Party will come to light.

During investigation, it was revealed that accused Alok Pratap Singh had built a property like Lucknow Palace and had spent crores of rupees in it. The cost of construction of this house was approximately Rs 5 crore. His involvement in illegal trade and diversion of codeine-based cough syrup was revealed.
CM Yogi took a jibe at Akhilesh Yadav
He said that a state-level Special Investigation Team (SIT) is currently investigating the case. Uttar Pradesh Police and Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) officials are part of this SIT. He said that the investigation will reveal who got the money in this entire nexus and everything related to it will come to light.
CM Yogi also took a dig at SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav and said, I kept doing the same mistake again and again, kept cleaning the mirror while the dust was on my face… CM Yogi said that after complaints of poisonous cough syrup being sold at different places, many people were arrested. He said that there were also reports of smuggling of syrup in the state, which was stopped on a large scale.
Samajwadi Party MLAs demonstrated
before this Samajwadi Party MLAs demonstrated against the cough syrup scandal outside Vidhan Bhawan. MLAs demonstrated at the statue of Chaudhary Charan Singh with codeine cough syrup. This demonstration was carried out under the leadership of opposition leader Mata Prasad Pandey.
All the MLAs arrived with posters and banners. At the same time, Kesh Verma reached the assembly hall wearing a poster of codeine syrup. SP MLA Zahid Baig said that he is a patient, he has difficulty in breathing, hence he has taken an oxygen cylinder and put on a mask. He said that whenever the opposition raises questions, the Chief Minister makes similar statements and makes similar allegations.
