Control on the arbitrariness of Ola-Uber! Bharat Taxi will end the ‘game’ of surge pricing

A new cooperative option in the name of app based taxi will soon be available to you in the country. The pilot project of Bharat Taxi One, started by the Central Cooperative Ministry, is nearing completion. Ashok Thakur, Director, NAFED, which comes under the Ministry of Cooperation, told in a special conversation with TV9 Bharatvarsha that more than one lakh ten thousand people in Delhi NCR have associated themselves with this project. He said that there is a plan to launch it completely in big cities of the country around January 15.

Shiv Kumar, the driver of Bharat Taxi standing on Raisina Road in Delhi, told that first he Hailstone And he used to drive Uber, he has connected himself with this app only a week ago. Another taxi driver Ashok Yadav says that it is the government’s effort to ensure that Indian money stays in India, which is why he is associated with this app.

What is Bharat Taxi App?

This is a mobile based cab booking platform, which has been designed keeping in mind the needs of the people. Through this app people will be able to book auto, car and bike taxi. This service is being started under Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited, which is considered to be the first National Mobility Cooperative of the country. Its operation is completely based on driver-friendly model.

Government will also give you loan

Ashok Thakur said that if you register yourself with this app, then in the coming time the government will also provide you the facility of using the app to buy a taxi. So that you can become a taxi owner yourself. In this way, employment opportunities will also be available in the country on a large scale.

Ashok Thakur said that the biggest feature of Bharat Taxi is that there will be no surge pricing, which means that whether it is rain, peak time or traffic… the fare will not be increased arbitrarily. The fare will be pre-fixed and transparent, so that passengers will know in advance how much amount they have to pay.

With special emphasis on safety and technology, Bharat Taxi has also partnered with Delhi Police for the safety of passengers and drivers. Along with this, work is being done for this in Gujarat also with the local Gujarat Police. The app will have facilities like real time tracking, verified driver onboarding, multilingual support and 24×7 customer care. Apart from this, this app will also be connected to the metro network, so that people will be able to plan multimodal journey easily. Auto, car and bike on one app. You will get the option of auto, car and bike taxi on Bharat Taxi app. With this, a single platform will be sufficient for every need from short distance to long journey.

Where to get the app and when to book?

Bharat Taxi App has been made available on Google Play Store for trial and feedback. iOS version will also be launched soon. From January 1, 2026, common people in Delhi will be able to book cabs through this app. After Delhi, this service will also be started in Rajkot, Gujarat and there are plans to expand it to other cities of the country in future.

When and where will it start?

Its pilot phase was started in Delhi in November with 650 vehicles and their owner-drivers. Now more than one lakh people have joined it. There are preparations to start this service in 20 cities including Pune, Mumbai, Lucknow, Bhopal and Jaipur in a year. It is also a target to start this service in many metro areas by March 2026. The platform will be operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited, which was established in June 2025 with an initial capital of Rs 300 crore.
