China Organ Harvesting: Protest against forced organ harvesting in China, 5 lakh people from 34 countries took this action

December 17, 2025 by Uma Shankar

More than 5 lakh people have signed a petition in different countries of the world. In this petition, strict action has been demanded against the practice of forced organ removal in China. Through this, an appeal has been made to the G7 countries and other governments to put pressure on the Chinese government and stop this inhumane process immediately. This petition was started by Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH) and International Coalition to End Transplant Abuse in China in July 2024.

By December 15, 2025, it has been signed by 5,05,970 people from 34 countries. The organizers aim to complete 10 lakh signatures by June 2026. The purpose of the petition is to demand concrete steps from the governments of G7 countries – America, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Britain as well as Argentina, Australia, India, Israel, Mexico, South Korea and Taiwan. It has been said in the petition that these countries should together take a strict stand against this practice of the Chinese government.

Religious minorities on target

According to the report, forced organ harvesting in China affects undertrial prisoners the most. These include Falun Gong followers, Uyghur Muslims and religious minorities. It is alleged that by keeping them in custody, their organs are forcibly removed and used for transplant.

Dr. Torsten Trey, Executive Director of DAFOH, said that the purpose of this campaign is to convey the voice of the people to the governments. He said that people want this cruel and scary practice to be abolished. The petition demands that the concerned countries issue a joint statement, ask China to immediately stop this practice and make a joint plan. This includes stopping its citizens from getting organ transplants in China, ending transplant related agreements, discussing the issue every year in Parliament and starting an investigation against the culprits.

Evidence of forced organ harvesting in China

petition China It also highlights the atrocities that have been taking place on the Falun Gong community for the last 25 years. It also mentions the 2019 report of the London-based China Tribunal. In this report, it was said that evidence of large-scale forced organ harvesting has been found in China and in this, followers of Falun Gong were mainly targeted.

Dr. Trey also told that between 2012 and 2018, his organization had also submitted a petition to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, on which more than 30 lakh people had signed. However, due to complex rules, no concrete action could be taken at that time.
