A demand has been made for a CBI inquiry into the contracts given to the companies of Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and his relatives. In this regard, a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court, on which the Supreme Court made a big comment. The court said, the difference between the competitive tenders for these works appears to be negligible. This indicates factionalism. The court clarified that at present it has no desire to order a CBI investigation. The court will first seek additional information from the state government.
Earlier in September, the Supreme Court had directed the Central Government to file a complaint in this case within three weeks. In fact, in the petition filed in the Supreme Court, it has been said that all the government contracts in the state are being given to the close family members of the Chief Minister. On this the Supreme Court said that the Centre’s stand is also necessary. The Home Ministry and the Finance Ministry should file detailed affidavits.
The lawyer had cited the order of March 18
On this, the Supreme Court was informed that the state has already filed its affidavit in the Supreme Court regarding the order of March 18. At the same time, the counsel for the petitioners, citing the order of March 18, said that the Center has not yet filed its affidavit.
The lawyer had alleged that the Chief Minister was running the state of Arunachal Pradesh like his private limited company. He argued that in the affidavit of the state it has been said that hundreds of contracts have been awarded, but the lawyer of Arunachal Pradesh opposed this. The lawyer said, this is wrong. The petitioners are digging up dead bodies. There is nothing like that.
Who filed the petition and what are the allegations?
This petition has been filed by NGOs Save Mon Region Federation and Voluntary Arunachal Army. It has been claimed that Brand Eagles, the firm of Rinchin Drema, stepmother of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, has got big contracts. Besides this, the name of Khandu’s nephew Tsering Tashi is also there. The Supreme Court has also considered the CAG report on this as important.
