
A youth has filed a case of assault in the police station against the newly elected BJP MLA from Banmankhi assembly of Purnia district, Krishna Kumar Rishi. The youth has filed an application against the MLA and his bodyguard in Banmankhi police station. Regarding the incident, Sanjeev Kumar, resident of Ramnagar Farsahi Panchayat Ward-8, told in the application given to the police that on November 27, 2025, at 8.30 pm, he was talking to his employee after parking his motorcycle next to the paved road near Hanuman Nagar Manoj Mill.
Meanwhile, Banmankhi MLA Krishna Kumar Rishi was going towards Jivchhapur. When the same vehicle came near, the MLA asked him his name and address, then at the request of the MLA, the bodyguard abused him. When he protested against the abuses, on the orders of the MLA, his two bodyguards started beating him.
Action will be taken after complaint from both sides
Both of them started fighting and threw him on the ground, injuring him badly. He got it treated by going to Sub-Divisional Hospital Banmankhi. MLA Krishna Kumar Rishi has denied the entire incident. He told that when he was passing through the road, Sanjeev Kumar, standing on a motorcycle on the roadside, called him a caste-related term.
When he tried to reason with him, he got into a fight with the bodyguard. Then started pushing. The fight was resolved on the initiative of the local people. Regarding the incident, Banmankhi police station incharge Sanjay Kumar said that applications have been filed by both the parties in the police station, action will be taken after investigation.
Criminal cases have already been registered
49 year old MLA Rishi has also been the Tourism Minister of Bihar in the cabinet led by Nitish Kumar. According to Rishi’s affidavit, there is no criminal case pending against him yet, whereas two criminal cases were registered against him during the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections and six criminal cases were registered against him during the 2015 Assembly elections.
