
CBI has arrested Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma on charges of taking bribe. Besides, a private person Vinod Kumar has also been arrested. At the same time, cash worth Rs 2 crore was recovered from the colonel’s house in Delhi and cash worth Rs 10 lakh was recovered from his wife’s house in Rajasthan. After this, a case has also been registered against the colonel’s wife of the accused. CBI told that he should be posted as Deputy Planning Officer in the Defense Production Department. The colonel was accused of corruption and illegal activities.
CBI investigation had revealed that Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma was taking money in exchange for giving wrongful benefits to some private defense companies. Meanwhile, information was received about a bribe of Rs 3 lakh to Deepak by a Bengaluru company on December 18. After this, CBI laid a trap and arrested Sharma. Apart from seizing Rs 3 lakh from the spot, CBI also arrested Vinod Kumar who had come to deliver the money.
Were involved in government approval and other work
During enquiry, information was found that the company’s Rajeev Yadav and Ravjit Singh were in contact with Deepak Sharma for a long time. It was revealed that he was trying to get benefits from various government departments and ministries by meeting Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma. It is alleged that these people were in constant touch with Lieutenant Colonel Sharma and were involved in getting government approval for their company and other work. CBI says that the entire chain of the colonel is being traced. The investigation is ongoing and more people may be arrested.

Huge amount found on Delhi and Rajasthan residence
CBI said that during the search at the Delhi residence of Lieutenant Colonel Deepak Kumar Sharma, cash worth Rs 2.23 crore was recovered. It is being told that even the officers were surprised to see such a huge amount. At the same time, a CBI team also searched the residence of Sharma’s wife Colonel Kajal Bali, posted as Commanding Officer of 16 Infantry Division Ordnance in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. A case has also been registered against Colonel Kajal Bali after cash worth Rs 10 lakh was recovered from there.
