November 29, 2025 by Uma Shankar

Mohammad Yunus has gained international fame through rural networks. In 2006, he jointly received the Nobel Peace Prize with the Grameen Bank of Bangladesh. Now explosive allegations have been made against the rural network of Muhammad Yunus, the current head of the interim government of Bangladesh. A Bangladeshi media organization has published an explosive report. The report claims that Grameen Network has links with Al-Qaeda.

The Bangladeshi Media Institute’s investigative report stated that Mohammad Yunus OfThe Grameen network was invested in by those who provided financial support to Osama bin Laden and the al-Qaeda network.

The report claims that Western investigative agencies had provided this information. The report has cited CIA documents published in the Wall Street Journal.

Contact with terrorist organization Grameen Network

The media claims that information has come to light about a terrorist group associated with that rural network. In March 2023, the Wall Street Journal published a list based on information from the CIA. This list included the names of those who had financially helped Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda.

The name of Saudi Arabian businessman Mohammad Abdul Latif Jameel is also included in this list. Jamil used to provide financial support to 9/11 mastermind Bin Laden’s Al-Qaeda. Latif-e-Yunus is a board member of the Rural Microfinance Organization.

Along with Yunus, he started a joint venture named Grameen-Jamil Microfinance. This organization also has business in Türkiye. Its headquarters is in Dubai. Another manager of the organisation, Yusuf Jamil, has also been involved in the infamous ‘Epstein’ scandal. Bangladeshi media reports have alleged several scams in the rural network business.

It was started in 2006 as a joint venture between Grameen Foundation and Grow Well Limited, a subsidiary of Abdul Latif Jameel Group. The objective of the company was to lift people out of poverty through microfinance institutions.

Rural network connection from Abdul Latif Jameel

The company claims that it is the first social business to expand microfinance in the Middle East, North Africa (MENA) and Türkiye. As of December 2013, it provided financing of over USD 65 million, reaching over 2.2 million clients through partner institutions in 10 countries in the MENA region and Turkey.

According to the report, the company is incorporated in Cyprus and its headquarters is in the International Humanitarian City of Dubai. Its website is currently inactive, and its Facebook page has been deactivated due to suspicion.

Further strengthening the Grameen-Jameel connection is Zaheer Al Munajjed, who is chairman of Grameen-Jameel Microfinance Limited, the report said. Al Munajjed also serves as a senior advisor to Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel, President of ALJ Group in Saudi Arabia.

Allegation on rural network creates uproar

With over 25 years of international business experience, he has played a key role in developing vocational training and microfinance programs. An alumnus of Harvard Business School and holder of a master’s degree in French International Law, Al Munajjed is considered a major architect of microfinance expansion in the MENA and Turkish regions.

The report also said that an investigation into the financial scam of Grameen Bank in Bangladesh was also initiated. Later, the investigation was reportedly stopped due to diplomatic pressure from Hillary Clinton. The report also mentions Yunus’s relationship with Hillary. Yunus’s Grameen Bank also has close links with international human organ trafficking gangs.

It is alleged that if the loan from Grameen Bank could not be repaid, he would even sell his organs. However, there has been no response yet from Yunus or his office on this allegation. The editor of the newspaper has demanded an investigation against Yunus by an international organization.
