Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese married his girlfriend Jodie Hayden on Saturday. The PM got married in a private ceremony at The Lodge in Canberra. He has become the first Australian leader to marry while in office. Albanese, 62, married Jody Hayden, 45, who works in financial services. While sharing pictures from his wedding on social media, he wrote just one word – Married – and shared a video along with it, in which he is seen holding the hand of his smiling bride wearing a bow-tie.
In a separate joint statement, the couple said: We are so thrilled to share our love and commitment to our future together with our family and closest friends. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also posted on X and congratulated his good friends Anthony Albanese and Jodie Hayden on their marriage.
Proposed on Valentine’s Day
Albanese proposed to his partner on Valentine’s Day of 2024. After this, both of them are now tied in the bond of marriage. When Albanese proposed to Hayden, he said that he had found a partner with whom he wanted to spend his entire life. They wrote their own vows and a celebrant got them married.
The newly married couple will go on a five-day honeymoon trip to Australia from Monday. Albanese met Hayden more than five years ago during a business dinner in Melbourne.
