Are you constantly coughing due to pollution? Follow these tips of Ayurveda

Pollution levels are continuously increasing in many parts of the country. At present, the most common problem which is increasing rapidly among people is persistent cough. Fine particles present in polluted air infect the membranes of the throat and lungs, increasing the problem of mucus and dry cough. Its effect is more visible especially in children, elderly people and people with pre-existing respiratory diseases. In such a situation, it is important that people take caution and do not take cough lightly.

There are many initial symptoms of cough caused by pollution, such as persistent sore throat, dry or mucus cough, heartburn, shortness of breath, sore throat and nasal congestion. Many people have a strong cough as soon as they wake up in the morning, because polluted particles accumulate in the respiratory system overnight. If this problem persists for a long time, it can turn into serious problems like bronchitis, asthma, lung infection and inflammation of the respiratory system. Persistent cough also affects sleep, appetite and daily functioning. Therefore, if cough is increasing due to pollution, then it is very important to recognize the symptoms and take timely care.

Adopt these Ayurvedic methods to prevent cough

For this, drinking lukewarm water mixed with a pinch of turmeric first thing in the morning is considered beneficial. Curcumin present in turmeric reduces inflammation and prevents infection.

Tulsi-water, basil-ginger decoction or liquorice tea soothes the throat and calms cough. Taking steam is also very effective, it loosens the mucus and provides relief in breathing. In Ayurveda, Chyawanprash, Sitopaladi Churna and Mulethi powder are also used to increase immunity. Taking a pinch of turmeric mixed with ghee at home also provides relief from cough and dryness of the throat.
