Harsh Goenka, owner of CEAT tire manufacturing company, has surprised everyone by making this sensational claim in one of his social media posts.
Harsh Goenka, who often posts on social media on various issues ranging from business to politics and cricket, surprised everyone by posting this on the evening of Thursday 27th November. Goenka wrote on the ‘X’ account, “I am hearing that not just one, but two IPL teams are up for sale – RCB and RR. It is clear that people want to cash in on the good price. So there are 2 teams available and 4/5 are potential buyers. Who will get success – will it be from Pune, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru or from the USA?”

Who is the owner of Rajasthan Royals?
However, it is not clear from Goenka’s post whether the Royals owners want to sell the entire franchise or just a part. Rajasthan Royals is currently owned by Royal Multisports Private Limited Company, in which the largest stake is held by Indian-origin British businessman Manoj Badale. Apart from them, America’s famous investment firm Redbird Capital also has a stake in it. At present, no such official announcement has been made by the Royals.
Will there be competition between brothers in IPL?
There is also a question whether Goenka himself wants to buy one of these franchises or not. Harsh Goenka, with a net worth of about Rs 36 thousand crores, is one of the biggest industrialists of the country and is the owner of RPG Group. CEAT Tires is also a part of this group. Harsh Goenka’s younger brother Sanjeev Goenka is the owner of IPL’s newest and most expensive franchise, Lucknow Super Giants.
