AI-Based Digital Toll Collection: There is going to be a big change in the highway travel of the country. Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that AI based digital toll collection system will be implemented across India by the end of 2026. After this, there will be no need for vehicles to stop at the toll plaza. Multi Lane Free Flow i.e. MLFF system will speed up travel, save fuel and also increase the government’s income. Let us tell you that in this system, vehicles will be able to cross toll even at a speed of up to 80 kilometers per hour. This can completely eliminate jams and unnecessary obstructions.
What is Multi Lane Free Flow Toll System?
Multi Lane Free Flow i.e. MLFF is a modern toll technology, in which vehicles can cross the toll at a fixed speed without stopping. According to Nitin Gadkari, after FASTag the stopping time at toll was reduced by 60 seconds, but after MLFF this time will be completely eliminated. In this system, vehicles will be able to cross the toll at a speed of up to 80 kilometers per hour. This will completely eliminate jams and unnecessary obstructions.
Number plates will be identified through AI and satellite
The new toll system will be completely AI based and number plate identification will be done through satellite. Toll collection will be done by combining AI, FastTag and automatic number plate recognition. Gadkari said that the government’s aim is to reduce the waiting time at toll plazas to zero minutes. This will make the system more transparent and any kind of toll evasion will be stopped.
fuel will be saved
With modern toll technology, the country will save fuel worth about Rs 1,500 crore annually. With this, the government’s income is expected to increase by approximately Rs 6,000 crore. Gadkari said that even before the implementation of FASTag, the government’s income has increased by Rs 5,000 crore. This figure will go up further with the MLFF system.
Travel will be faster and the system will become transparent
The Union Road Transport Minister said that with the implementation of this technology, the travel time will be significantly reduced and people will get relief. The government’s focus is on national highways, not on state highways or city roads. The government aims to create a transparent and corruption-free toll system.
