After the meeting of the Parliamentary Strategy Group of Congress led by Sonia Gandhi regarding the winter session, Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha Pramod Tiwari said that since 2014, the government has proved to be a complete failure. There has been failure in stopping terrorist activities. Terrorist activities have also taken place at the Red Fort of Delhi. No one is ready to take responsibility.
He said that we want discussion on election reforms in the House. Will corner the government on the issue of SIR. We want discussion on the issue of air pollution. SIR issue dominated the all-party meeting
Before this meeting an all-party meeting was held. The issue of SIR dominated the all-party meeting. Opposition parties expressed concern over the suicide cases of SIRs and BLOs and demanded discussion on it in Parliament. All the opposition parties said in one voice that BLOs are committing suicide, there is a fear in the minds of people about their names being removed from the voter list. If this is not discussed in the House, they will not allow Parliament to function.
What did Pramod Tiwari say after the all-party meeting?
After the all-party meeting, Pramod Tiwari said that most of the parties are of the opinion that if SIR is not discussed then it means the government does not want to run the House. They (Election Commission) themselves felt that the time given by them was not enough and the time for SIR has been extended by one week. This process will take at least 1 to 3 years.
Tiwari said that the Prime Minister sometimes comes to the House by mistake but does not participate in the discussion. The Prime Minister is not fulfilling his responsibilities as per the basic spirit of the Constitution. Third thing was also said that there is deviation in foreign policy and it is not in the interest of the country. People also want discussion on inflation and unemployment. The Election Commission and the government should give up their stubbornness and stop killing democracy.
