16 fours and sixes… Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s friend scored a stormy century, chased the target of 193 runs on just this many balls.

In a match of Elite Group A of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26, Mumbai demonstrated its form brilliantly by defeating Vidarbha by 7 wickets. In this T20 match played at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Vidarbha, batting first, scored 192 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. Mumbai chased this big target by losing 3 wickets in just 17.5 overs. Which included a stormy century by an 18 year old young player.

Vidarbha put a big total on the board

At the beginning of the match, Mumbai captain won the toss and decided to bowl first. But Vidarbha made a strong start and added 115 runs for the first wicket. Atharva Tayde scored 64 runs and Aman Mokhade scored 61 runs. But after these two players, Vidarbha’s innings faltered and 6 batsmen could not even reach double figures. At one time, Vidarbha team, which was moving towards more than 200 runs, was limited to 192 runs only.

Ayush Mhatre scored a stormy century

While chasing this big total, 18 year old young batsman Ayush Mhatre played a memorable innings for Mumbai. Ayush Mhatre is the opening partner of Vaibhav Suryavanshi in Under-19 cricket and is also considered his good friend. This target proved to be very small in front of the batting of Ayush Mhatre. Ayush Mhatre faced only 53 balls and played an unbeaten inning of 110 runs. During this period, Ayush Mhatre hit 8 fours and 8 sixes, that is, he scored 80 runs from the boundary. Whereas, Ayush Mhatre took only 49 balls to reach his century.

Apart from Ayush Mhatre, Suryakumar Yadav also scored 35 runs in 30 balls. At the same time, Shivam Dubey led the team to victory by scoring unbeaten 39 runs in 19 balls at a strike rate of 205.26. Shivam Dubey also hit 3 fours and as many sixes. Due to which Mumbai achieved this big target by losing only 3 wickets.
